The Arpillera Project response 12

I appreciated that this article gave me all the information I needed. This is a great way for Peruvian women to support themselves while also giving the rest of the world a beautiful piece of their culture. I have seen some of the beautiful textiles before, and it's really cool for me to know where they came from. I really like organizations such as this in which the people benefiting are being given an opportunity to support themselves for possibly the rest of their lives. One time auctions support for a little while, but, this way, the support is ongoing. Having the beneficiaries make a living through work also would likely improve moral and confidence.

The Arpillera Project

*Arpillera means 3d fabric collage or quilt in Peruvian
*Peruvian women in this program perfect their sewing skills
*They are usually employed in positions such as mason or mason's assistant
*Meeting with this group helps the women to have a place to pray, socialize, and make a small profit
*The textiles are then sold in the US
